The Parting Glass - my version

Here is my version of the Irish/Scottish folk song "The Parting Glass", which I formed using a combination of various historical versions (acc to Wikipedia). The narrator in the modern version is self-oriented in his stoic musings, whereas in the older versions he focused on his relationships with others and his faith. So in my version, he starts as the former, and as he drinks a parting glass each verse, he gets more sentimental and others-focused. This might redeem him if he's not just leaving, but leaving to go to war, which is not a part of any historical versions, but seems implied.
