Music can be played from Inet by smart phone, so no need to store it anywhere but the web, which is dynamic, not static. Storing music on literal devices is done. Google Drive combined with Google Play, load all music into cloud and play from anywhere that has access to Inet, like WiFi or mobile reception. Google Drive is static storage but cloud storage, so shows shift away from literal storage on devices. iTunes was first step, as was music stored on computer hard drive, but designed to sync copies to various devices, and library included the fact that you had bought song (and cd re-download limited times).
Movies are moving this way. I decided years ago not to buy DVDs (unless I'd watch 3 times+ and not on reg cable), so have others. This solves problem of Why shd consumers buy CDs and DVDs when will have to re-buy in new format in few years? Don't. Pay artists three times for iTunes, Amazon, and B&N to post to their clouds, everyone streams from there. No copies go out at all. Or find new system for motivating artists, copies go out for free or donations, and everyone stores in personal cloud (e.g. Amazon or G Drive).
